During WWII the Army produced reduced size magazines to be sent overseas to the Armed Forces. This is one of them.
This is the full magazine. It not the standard format of New Yorker Magazines. It was shortened and made smaller. it's printed on uncoated paper - it measures 8 7/8" x 6 1/4" and has around 23 pgs. As you can see in the pics, it is specially stamped stating it's an overseas edition.
It was sent overseas to the troops during the war with the usual editorial content - portraits, fiction, poetry, the current cinema, "newsbreaks" (humorous snafus from sundry local newspapers or periodicals), Talk of the Town, stories, news and funny cartoons. There is usually a cartoon on the back cover. Most ads weren't printed in these.
