Condition as shown, no chips in the glass. Measures 10 inches wide x approx; 4 inches tall.
Toward the end of the VICTORIAN ERA, glass makers began producing and marketing pressed glass PICKLE jars with elaborate designs. It is said that Harry Northwood originated the process of cold-painting these jars. The result of that process is now called "Goofus Glass".
These pickle jars were apparently such a success with housewives of the day that Northwood began producing a line of products including powder jars, bottles, bowls, plates, lamps, and other small pieces. Indiana Glass Company, Dugan and others soon joined the new 'craze'. These products were produced in clear, amber, aqua, apple green, milk or camphor glass, and light purple (sun purpled) glass. Paint colors, originally bright and shiny, included reds, greens, gold, silver, oranges, yellows and blues. Unfortunately, handling, washing and using this cold-painted glassware soon wore away the decorative paint.SPLENDID Crystal 11" EAPG Bowl by Dugan ca. 1905 - 1909 from what I can ascertain from my research online.
